Q: Please tell us a great story about your business, your experiences and the gritty back-story of your journey and why your business or products are your passion.
A: As I worked in my career as an accountant, I dreamed of owning my own business. When the local candy/ice cream store owner retired I decided to take the big step. Having made chocolates for friends and family for years at home, it seemed a natural path to follow. The progression to offering my products to wholesale customers has expanded my horizons and made operating my business rewarding and challenging.
Q: What has been your biggest success?
A: Buying a coffee roasting business, being trained as the roast master and creating a wholesale coffee business while not being a coffee drinker (I now drink coffee black) and my chocolate covered coffee beans are second to none.
Q: What has been your biggest struggle?
A: Finding an advertising program that is effective, measureable and affordable and a reliable and caring staff.
Q: What's your niche?
A: Small independent specialty shops and coffee shops that pride themselves in providing excellent products at a reasonable price.
Q: Where do you see the retail industry in ten years?
A: Hopefully the trend toward online shopping by the big box stores will make the local independently owned shop a more attractive alternative to those wanting high quality products and personalized service.
